Another day another drive. We headed South down I-25 to get to Pueblo, Colorado. The drive a mere 539 miles, took us over 1000 for the trip so far and was also the most frustrating. Our route taking us via Denver meant a good few hours of bumper to bumper traffic, the only respite being Karina's trance inducing cherry sweets, which we're now sure are used as a sedative as well.
The trip gave us the opportunity to catch up via various radio stations and newspapers how America is gearing up for the election. Initial observations are that the adverts seem quite outrageous and completely unregulated. Unlike Britain, if you are part of any group who may suffer if a particular candidate gets into office you can broadcast an ad. So today we heard a barrage of ads from the NRA against Obama's gun stance. Now the NRA has serious money and the ads are fairly vicious and could be interpreted as being from the Republican party. Its all a bit hideous and all seems aimed at misleading the voting public into panic voting.
As for last nights Veepee debate (Vice President) Sarah Palin is being lambasted for her "cutesy" approach, winking at the camera and using phrases such as "Betya" "Darn Garn it", at one point I expected her to click her heels together and utter "There's no place like home". Her excuse for not answering questions directly was that she wants to talk to the people at home, instead of answering the moderater or Biden. The thought of McCain winning is quite frightening, and at the moment all polls point to an Obama victory but it can all change very quickly.
In case there is any doubt about my stance (and in the absence of any images from today)
Anyway I digress not much else to report folks other than we're in Pueblo (well in a motel by the I-25 on the outskirts of Pueblo). Tomorrow brings 2 shows and then our epic drive to Arkansas where we might just have to break land speed records to get there.
For now, we're off for more so called food.
